St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host the Newark Boys Chorus in concert. Please come to support this important institution that trains inner-city youth to be skilled musicians. They have toured around the world to great acclaim. You will be treated to a diverse program that will include classical music, spirituals, and arrangements of popular music. A free-will offering will be taken.
The Newark Boys Chorus School was founded in 1966 as the New Jersey Symphony Boys Choir. Three years later, the Newark Boys Chorus School was established to create an integrated academic and music program unique to the city of Newark, New Jersey. The Concert Chorus has been heard throughout the world with a diversified repertoire that includes classical music, spirituals, folk music, and jazz. The Chorus has toured China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Caribbean, Finland, Latvia, Russia, England, Wales, Spain, Portugal, Canada, and the United States. The Concert Chorus serves as the touring ensemble for boys in sixth through eighth grades. Later in March the chorus will travel to Arizona for a regional tour.
